» Color Palette and Cluster Standards

Based on the feedback from many residents, the Southgate Square Board has worked with Reston Association and the Design Review Board to introduce new colors and standards for our community. All of the new colors are available at HOME DEPOT™ and/or LOWES™ for your convenience.

Please note that all units that repaint their entire homes are required to change to the new palette.

If you are just touching up your paint, you are not required to paint the entire house in the new colors.

Inspections have evaluated the colors of each home.  If you are found in violation of previous color standards, you are required to repaint with the new color palette.

All homes can chose between five main exterior colors. Each home is allowed to pick whatever color they prefer, provided it is not the same color as any home adjacent. So, if you neighbor picks a color and paints first, you cannot pick that same color! Each home also has new trim color choices. All colors are available at HOME DEPOT and/or LOWES (for the Olympic's "Russet" wood stain).

» Reston Association Design Review Board (DRB)

If you plan to make changes to the exterior of your property, you are required to obtain approval from Reston DRB. The application can be found at http://www.reston.org under the Design Review Section.

If you have already completed (or are in the process of competing) outside work, you will also need to send in a DRB application, if you did not do so prior to doing the work.

If you are unsure if you need DRB approval or not, see your Southgate Square disclosure package for information. This information may also be found in the Reston disclosure package and on-line at http://www.reston.org.

Please remember that homes which are not in compliance with Southgate Square or Reston guidelines may be fined and ordered to remove or modify non-compliant property features.
